This book was worth every penny as it helped me navigate through the jungle of baby and mommy stuff out there - purchasing the best quality for my baby without going bankrupt or plain insane.

I used this book for child #1 and did check other sites for their opinions too. I think people think they are buying a book about how to buy used, etc - this is not that book. This tells you what to buy that will last. We bought a Muniere bed set- LOOKS BRAND NEW. We also used their advice for strollers and seats and after 4 yrs, they can be re-used. So if you want a book to tell you about buying used or filling the cart at the dollar store - skip the book...if you want advice on quality products - its worh the money.

I purchased this book after a recommendation from a friend. The book is very well organized in terms of topics and covers all sorts of things you would need to know from cribs, rockers, car seats, breast pumps, etc. I have brought it around with me to different stores as I evaluate different purchases.
Pros:
1. Information is easy to read and well organized
2. Descriptions of the pros/cons for each review are well articulated
3. Bonus material on the website
4. Some sections have a summary chart so if you want a quick view you can get at it fast enough
5. Gives you the good/better/best recommendation to fit different budgets
6. Offers great suggestions to save money
Cons:
The book is starting to come unglued from the cover. Perhaps I have used it too much.

This book is awesome and has been instrumental on trying to figure out what is needed for our upcoming baby. The only complain, which is a minor one, but the authors could have used a better editor. Other than that, the actual information in the book is great and I have made this my baby stuff buying bible.

Overall, this is an invaluable resource for new (or even not-new) parents, and I highly recommend it. I love the fact that this book tells you what features to look for in every type of baby product imaginable; independently reviews hundreds of individual baby products without influence from outside advertisers or the companies themselves; and actually makes specific product recommendations for every kind of baby product. It made baby product shopping so much easier for me!
Only a couple of complaints:
1. The book is absolutely replete with errors and typos. Considering how otherwise valuable the resource has been, I can overlook the typos (we all make them). However, one error actually cost me money, instead of saving it: the book specifically mentioned the Beco Baby Carrier as being one that can be used in the front-facing position. It was not until after I bought it, opened the box, and looked at the owner's manual that I realized that this is not the case - like the Ergo Carrier, it can only be used facing inward (toward mom). Luckily Amazon is letting me return the carrier; otherwise, this would have been a $139 typo. (And yes I know that the error was corrected on the Baby Bargains blog. But let's get real, no one knows to check that before they buy anything recommended in the book. Kind of like the erratum printed on the lower left hand corner of page 52 of the newspaper in tiny print.)
2. The tone of the book is often a little bit - I don't know the word - flippant? Snide? Sarcastic? Anyway, it put me off when I first started reading the book; but the book has otherwise proved its value, so that I can forgive the tone.
